Just seven of THOT’s community-based hospitals provided care to patients from each of Texas’ 254 counties in 2023.
The public and teaching hospitals that comprise the Teaching Hospitals of Texas are physically located in just 12 of the state’s 254 counties. But their reach, impact, and importance are statewide. These hospitals account for less than 3 percent of total hospitals in the state, but have a critical role in and outsized impact on care for Texans statewide.
