After a national search, the University of Texas System Board of Regents has named Ben Raimer, M.D. president of the University of Texas Medical Branch as its sixth president.

“Ben is a longtime friend of THOT, and I’m delighted that he will continue leading UTMB,” said Maureen Milligan, Ph.D., CEO, Teaching Hospitals of Texas. “His commitment to medical education, research, and patient care is exceptional, and he is a true advocate for the special work of our member institutions.”

Dr. Raimer served as the system’s interim president since August 2019. With decades of service at UTMB, Dr. Raimer has been an influential voice for academic medical institutions in Texas and for the patients who rely on them.
