Executive Committee

Teaching Hospitals of Texas (THOT) Executive Committee (EC) members are elected at the last meeting of THOT’s odd-numbered fiscal year.  The term for new members began October 1, 2015 and lasts two years.  EC members may succeed themselves.

Executive Committee Duties:

The EC shall, and may between meetings, exercise the authority of the Board in the management of THOT, except that the EC shall have no power to set membership or special dues nor to enter into contracts requiring the expenditure of non-budgeted funds exceeding $10,000.

The EC will normally meet on the following schedule:

• Weekly conference calls for one hour during the legislative session
• Monthly conference calls when not in legislative session
• Two-hour in-person meeting the evening before all Board meetings (3-4 times per year)
• As needed to address urgent issues based on the discretion of the Chair

The current EC meeting schedule is provided below.  Meeting materials are sent to EC members by email prior to the meeting or call.

Beginning January 2017 The Executive Committee will meet every Friday during Legislative Session.  Meeting Notices will be sent in Fall of 2016.
