Teaching Hospitals of Texas’ newest member, Greenville-based Hunt Regional Healthcare joined the association earlier this year as a Regional Affiliate.
“Serving one of the fastest growing parts of our state, Hunt Regional Healthcare is also growing its footprint and impact,” said Maureen Milligan, Ph.D., CEO, Teaching Hospitals of Texas. “Over the last several years, it has added outpatient sites and new specialists, earned new level-of-care designations, and, most recently, launched an internal medicine residency program. Having them in the THOT family strengthens our advocacy on behalf of the state’s public and teaching hospitals.”
In 2024, Hunt Regional Healthcare earned Joint Commission designation as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and launched an internal medicine residency program. The internal medicine residency program launched with eight residents, with plans to grow to 24 in the next few years. Over 1,000 medical school graduates applied for these initial eight positions. The program’s mission is to provide an advanced education in internal medicine of the highest quality, combining teaching, clinical service, comprehensive patient care, and research, while producing academic and clinical leaders in internal medicine who are committed to lifelong learning.
Hunt Regional Healthcare serves Northeast Texas with its inpatient hospital in Greenville and multiple outpatient and emergency care sites throughout Hunt and Rockwall counties. The system is governed by the Hunt Memorial Hospital District.
